Why Tesserae
A clear reason to choose us over the alternatives.
We are not the most prominent name in the market. We are a small, focused team that does careful, practical work — and we believe that matters more than a well-known brand.

What working with Tesserae gives you
Scoped and bounded work
You know from the start exactly what is included, how long it runs and what you will receive. No creeping engagements.
Capability that stays in your team
We work alongside your people and explain the thinking as we go. The knowledge transfers during the engagement, not as an afterthought.
Observation-led recommendations
We spend time with the actual work before suggesting anything. Our findings are grounded in what we see, not a template applied from outside.
Low-disruption improvement steps
Small, tested changes rather than sweeping redesigns. We do not ask teams to stop working in order to improve how they work.
Meaningful, usable measures
We focus on a small number of measures that actually tell you something — cycle time, rework frequency, waiting — rather than a complex reporting suite.
Rooted in Malaysian business context
We work in Selangor and the Klang Valley and understand the pace, communication norms and operating conditions of local firms.
Expertise
Senior-level attention on every engagement
Because Tesserae is a small team, the person who discusses your situation at the outset is the same person who leads the work. You are not handed to a junior analyst after the initial meeting. Our lead consultant has spent fifteen years in operations and improvement roles before establishing Tesserae.
- Lean and value-stream mapping experience across manufacturing and services
- Familiarity with SME and mid-size business constraints
- Working knowledge of Klang Valley industrial and service operations
Improvement work that is led by someone who has spent years doing it in actual workplaces — not a recent graduate following a process manual — tends to produce more useful findings and more sustainable changes.
We do not use a proprietary framework or a branded process. We use a small set of well-tested lean tools — value-stream mapping, takt time analysis, simple pull boards — applied only where they are genuinely relevant.
Methodology
Tools applied where they fit, not everywhere by default
Many improvement consultants arrive with a complete methodology and apply it uniformly. We take a more selective approach — we observe first, identify the most significant sources of waste or difficulty, and then apply the most relevant tools to address those specific issues.
- Observation-first before recommending any tool
- Small, testable changes rather than redesign
- Short review cycles to check what is actually working
Value & pricing
Transparent, contained fees — no surprises
Our fees are published openly and cover the full scope as described. We do not bill by the hour and then present an unexpected invoice. Travel within the Klang Valley is included. If additional work becomes relevant, we discuss it before it begins.
- Fixed-fee engagements with clear deliverables
- No hourly billing or variable cost surprises
- Klang Valley travel included in all engagement fees
Starting from RM 520 for a focused two-week Process Waste Review, our fees are designed to be within reach of small and mid-size businesses rather than reserved for firms with large internal budgets.
How we compare
Tesserae vs. typical improvement providers
A straightforward comparison of what clients often experience elsewhere and what they experience with Tesserae.
| Feature | Typical providers | Tesserae |
|---|---|---|
| Who leads the work | Senior consultant sells, junior analyst delivers | Senior consultant leads throughout |
| Scope control | Scope expands over time, often billed by the hour | Fixed scope, agreed in writing before work begins |
| Knowledge transfer | Delivered as a presentation at the end | Transfers throughout the engagement, not after |
| Improvement approach | Large change programmes, significant disruption | Small, tested steps with low disruption |
| Pricing transparency | Proposal-based, pricing not disclosed upfront | Published fees, no hourly billing surprises |
| Local context | Methodology developed for other markets, applied unchanged | Familiar with Malaysian SME and mid-size operations |
What sets us apart
Things we do that most others don't
Written deliverables agreed before any work starts
We document what you will receive — the value-stream sketch, the findings note, the handover pack — in writing before the engagement begins. You know what you are paying for.
Internal facilitator coaching built into longer engagements
In our programme advisory work we coach nominated internal facilitators — so when we leave, someone in your organisation is equipped to keep the improvement rhythm going.
Direct observation of actual work, not just interviews
We spend time watching the work happen — the actual sequence, the waiting, the workarounds — rather than relying solely on what people describe in interviews. The two rarely match exactly.
A clear path from small start to broader programme
Each engagement is complete in itself, but the three service tiers are designed to build naturally on each other. You can begin with a focused two-week review and decide later whether to continue, without any pressure to commit upfront.
